The Tri-Valley Opportunity Council, Inc’s Senior Programs department is excited to be partnering with the Polk County Fair Board in planning the special Senior Citizen Day at the Polk County Fair. Senior Citizen Day will be held on Friday, July 8, starting at 9:30 a.m. with all the normal music, entertainment, awards, Bingo, and most importantly, laughter.
A big part of the Polk County Fair is honoring two special seniors with the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award. We are honored to be a part of finding, awarding, and recognizing two of our passionate, dedicated, and heart-giving Polk County seniors. They are looking to you to assist with finding worthy nominees to be considered for the award. To be considered for the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award, the potential senior volunteers must meet the following criteria:
- The nominee must be a resident of Minnesota.
- The nominee’s volunteer service must be accomplished after reaching age 65.
- The nominee must be age 70 by June 1 of the current year.
- Nominees must currently do a volunteer activity that is unpaid and demonstrates commitment to their local community.
- A previous county winner not chosen as the state winner is eligible. However, a current year’s nomination form must be completed.
- You may only nominate one individual per nomination form. Couple nominations will be disqualified.
Attached you will find copies of the nomination form. If you know of someone who is deserving of the recognition, email the completed nomination form to marley.melbye@tvoc.org or mail the form to Tri-Valley Opportunity Council, Inc, Attn: Marley Melbye, 102 N Broadway, Crookston, MN, 56716, by June 10.
