I (KROX) have conducted Section Football preseason polls and previews over the past couple of weeks. First I would like to THANK the coaches for their cooperation and appreciate them taking time out of their busy schedules to get the info to me. Some emails went into spam folders (my stupid Yahoo email address), but we got most of the coaches from the area teams.
Below are the four that I have done as of Wednesday night, with section 6 9-Player proving to be difficult to get a few of the coaches to respond. We also have a new coach that understandably didn’t want to rank the teams because he didn’t know enough about them (witch is a fair and good excuse). We had another coach that didn’t want to rank teams and haven’t heard back from Blackduck and Clearbrook-Gonvick (possible junk mail folde situation). With that said I only have two respondants for the poll so I need the other two in order to have a decent poll.. I will try emailing again and get it out as soon as I get the last two coaches.

Former Wadena-Deer Creek, University of Minnesota-Crookston, and Fargo-Moorhead Redhawk Jake Dykhoff was assigned to the Frederick Keys from Delmarva Shorebirds in the Baltimore Orioles organization.
The Frederick Keys are the Orioles High-A Minor League team, so it is a promotion from Delmarva, which is a regular A team.
Dykhoff was 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA in four games pitched while starting one of them. He pitched 18 innings while giving up 19 hits and allowing 6 runs (5 earned). He struck out 13 while walking 6 batters.

Warroad’s Jaylie French has de-committed from Dartmouth. The Senior has tallied 181 career points. She will have several options, there is no doubt about that!
French has 181 points in four seasons for the Warriors. She’s a 2x state champ and will likely be a Ms. Hockey finalist in February.

I am excited for the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle Volleyball team to kick off a new era as they begin the Kathleen Rustad and Sara Dryburgh years!
They open the season this weekend in Rapid City, South Dakota for four non-conference matches to open up the season. Minnesota Crookston will take on South Dakota Mines, Lake Superior State, Chadron State, and NSIC foe Jamestown (in a non-conference matchup).
UMC’s top returner is Madison Carsten (Sr. Wadena-Deer Creek H.S.) and they have a nice core of seniors with Emma Malek, Kailee Waasdorp, Megan Schoenfelder, Penelope Vertin and Carizma Muth. The NSIC is a gauntlet, but we will see how the newcomers mix with the returners and see what progress they can make this year. I am excited to see what happens over the next three to four years!

The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks Football team has a pretty good chance at winning the FCS National Championship, according to some odds makers –
One wonders what will happen with the UND and NDSU football programs. NDSU will NEVER have a remote chance (or even a .000000000000000001 percent chance) to win a National Championship ever again. UND on the other hand, will be one of the top teams every year. And the teams in NDSU’s new conference are a bunch of nobody’s and team I sure could care less about watching. I don’t get the move, other than they were afraid of UND. NDSU will travel the second-most miles in Division 1 football this year, which is a huge expense. It could possibly run the Bison athletic program into financial dispair. The Fargo Dome is a dump and they can’t sell more tickets, so we will see.

With talk of a player actually participating on an NFL team and being eligible to come back to play college, the only three Division 1 Football conferences that matter, the Big Ten, SEC, and Big 12 have all passed the same eligibility rule.
Banned from rostering:
– Players who declared for a pro draft and didn’t withdraw
– Players who signed a pro contract
– Players listed on a pro roster
Applies regardless of NCAA rulings on eligibility.

The Timberwolves continue to get better this offseason. Jonathan Kuminga has agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, plus a player option. Kuminga will be a starter alongside Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert.

A lawyer, sitting next to blonde on a long flight, was pestering her to play a game ‘I ask you a question, and if you don’t know the answer, you pay me, and vice-versa.’
The blonde politely declined and tried to get some sleep. The lawyer made another offer: ‘Okay, if you don’t know the answer you pay me $5, but if I don’t know the answer, I will pay you $1000’ The blonde agreed.
The lawyer asked the first question. ‘What’s the distance from the earth to the moon?’
The blonde silently reached into her purse, pulled out a five-dollar bill, and handed it to the lawyer. Then she asked the lawyer, ‘What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down with four?’ And went back to sleep
The lawyer did research on his iPhone, called his buddies etc, all to no avail. After over an hour, he gave up. He woke the blonde up and handed her $1000 and asked ‘Well, so what is the answer?’
Again, without a word, the blonde reached into her purse, handed the lawyer $5, and went back to sleep.

Whitey was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young layers called pullets and eight or ten roosters, whose job was to fertilize the eggs. Whitey kept records and any rooster that didn’t perform went into the soup pot and was replaced.
That took an awful lot of Whitey’s time so Whitey got a set of tiny bells and attached them to his roosters.
Each bell had a different tone so Whitey could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing.
Now he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report simply by listening to the bells.
Whitey’s favorite rooster was old Brewster, a very fine specimen he was, too. But on this particular morning Whitey noticed old Brewster’s bell hadn’t rung at all!
Whitey went to investigate. The other roosters were chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing. The pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover.
BUT, to Whitey’s amazement, Brewster had his bell in his beak, so it couldn’t ring. He’d sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one.
Whitey was so proud of Brewster, he entered him in the county fair… and Brewster became an overnight sensation among the judges. The result…
The judges not only awarded Brewster the “No Bell Piece Prize” but they also awarded him the “Pulletsurprise” as well.

Dolly Parton and Queen Elizabeth went to the Pearly Gates on the same day.
They both met with an Angel to find out if they would be admitted to Heaven.
The angel said “Unfortunately, there’s only one space in Heaven today so I must decide which one of you will be admitted.”
The Angel asked Dolly if there was some particular reason why she should go to Heaven. Dolly took off her top and said, “Look at these, they’re the most perfect breasts God ever created and I’m sure it will please God to be able to see them every day, for eternity.”
The Angel thanked Dolly, and asked Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the same question.
The Queen walked over to a toilet, pulled the lever and flushes it without saying a word.
The Angel immediately said, “OK, your Majesty, you may go into Heaven.”
Dolly was outraged and asked, “What was that all about? I showed you two of God’s own perfect creations and you turned me down. She simply flushed a commode and she got admitted to Heaven! Would you explain that to me?
“Sorry, Dolly,” said the Angel, “but even in Heaven, a royal flush beats a pair – no matter how big they are.”
