Suspicious Death Leads to Murder charges of 2 Grand Forks men

On October 24, 2024, at approximately 9:06 pm, officers of the Grand Forks Police Department responded to the area of the 100 block of Cherry Street for a 911 call reporting an unresponsive male in a residence.
Responding officers located a 49-year-old male suffering from injuries that were suspicious in nature. Life-saving measures were attempted, and the victim was transported to Altru Hospital, where, unfortunately, he was pronounced dead. The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time, pending notification of next of kin.
Preliminary investigation has determined this death is suspicious in nature, and it is being investigated as a murder. A person of interest has been identified; it is believed this person and the victim were known to each other. The identity of this person of interest will not be released at this time because of the active nature of the investigation.

This is an active and developing investigation. Updates to this investigation will be made as they are available, however no further information will be released at this time. The victim in this case has been identified as 49-year-old Grand Forks resident Anthony James Kiehl. He suffered injuries that led investigators to believe that homicidal violence was involved.

The Grand Forks Police Department has located two persons of interest and they are in custody regarding the death of Anthony Kiehl. At this time neither individual’s name is being released due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. At this time formal charges have not been brought against either person.

Charges have been forwarded to the Grand Forks County State’s Attorney’s office and are pending their review for the death of Anthony James Kiehl on Donald Joseph Bartlette, 45 years old, of Grand Forks, and Nicholas Wride-Arnold, 35 years old, of Grand Forks. A charge of murder has been forwarded on Bartlette. And a charge of conspiracy to commit murder has been forwarded on Wride-Arnold.
