THE POLK COUNTY COMMISSIONERS REVIEW HUMAN RESOURCES AND FINANCE DEPARTMENTS PRELIMINARY BUDGETS

The Polk County Board of Commissioners met last week and reviewed the preliminary budgets from the Human Resources Department and the Finance Department.

HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT PRELIMINARY BUDGET

The Human Resources Department’s proposed budget was presented to the board by Human Resources Director Alecia Helms. Helms presented the total budget being in the amount of $177,361, which is a $11,000 increase from last years’ budget. The budget also included $462,358 in total expenditures.

Helms also presented a separate budget just for advertising. That total budget was a total of $50,000. Helms finished her proposal and presentation by announcing to the board that the Human Resources Department is entering its final year of the Blue Cross Blue Shield contract for employee health care. That contract is set to be renewed in 2025.

The Polk County Finance Department is set to receive over $1.8 million from the Minnesota Department of Revenue in 2024. Dennison stated the largest expenditures from the finance department will be $359,982 allocated toward wages and salaries and $40,000 to be allocated toward social services.

Other expenditures that were proposed were for Central Services and supplies to be purchased for the department over 2024, with a total of $2,500 to be allocated toward those expenses.
