THIEF RIVER FALLS USES DEPTH TO BEAT THE CROOKSTON GIRLS SWIMMERS

The Crookston Pirates had some solid performances, but their lack of depth cost them in a 94-50 dual loss to the Thief River Falls Prowlers on Senior Day at the Crookston Community Pool.  The Pirates saluted their only senior on the team, Victoria Proulx after the meet. “The line up we put out there today was what we will use for sections,” said Pirate Coach Marley Melbye. “There was a lot of emotions because it was senior night and this is when we say goodbye to the girls that won’t be swimming in sections.”

Madison Hoiland had a solid night with two first-place and she was also on two second-place relay teams. Hoiland won the 50 freestyle by almost half a second and she won the 100 Breaststroke by 20 seconds.  “Madison looked strong in both of her events,” said Pirate Coach Marley Melbye. “She had great races and continues to swim well for us.”

Claire Oman finished second in the 200 IM and Mackenzie Aamoth finished second in the 100 Butterfly. “Claire had another solid race in the 200 IM,” said Coach Melbye. “Mackenzie’s 100 fly looked really good too.”

Both teams will get ready for the Section 8A Meet at the Warroad High School Pool on Saturday, October 24.
