TREE BRANCH ON POWER LINE CAUSES 550 PEOPLE IN CROOKSTON TO LOSE POWER

Several areas of Crookston have reported that there are parts of the town that are without power. The Otter Tail Power Company has reported that they are aware of the issue but are not sure what has caused the outage, but that high winds are likely to blame. Electric crews are out trying to fix the outage now and will give a report on what caused them when they are able.

Update: June 16, 11:15 a.m.

Otter Tail Power Company reported that at around 10:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 15, the high winds had knocked down a tree branch on a power line that knocked out the power for about 550 customers in Crookston. Work crews went out and got power back on for half of those customers within a half-hour. An hour after the tree branch knocked out the power, the Otter Tail work crews got power back to the rest of the customers.

Otter Tail is reminding people that if they see a downed power line, to stay away from the wires, and call Otter Tail at 800-257-4044 to report a downed power line as soon as possible.
