UMC BASEBALL OFFENSE OVERPOWERS SW MINNESOTA STATE

The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Golden Eagles Baseball team outlasted Southwest Minnesota State, winning 18-11. 

FIRST INNING
Southwest Minnesota State would get a single but then a double play as they were held scoreless. UMC drew a walk but wasn’t able to score either.  

SECOND INNING
Southwest Minnesota State got a two-run home run with two outs to take a 2-0 lead. Kodi Miller hit a two-run home run of his own to tie the game. Later in the inning, Caden Headlee had a two-run single to give the Golden Eagles a 4-2 lead. 

THIRD INNING
Southwest Minnesota State led off with a solo home run to make it 4-3. Then they hit back-to-back solo home runs to take a 5-4 lead. UMC answered as Mitch Goodwin got an RBI single, and Kobe Senn followed with a two-run single to give UMC a 7-5 lead. Later in the inning, Josh Dykhoff triple, which scored two runs, and on the next at-bat, Jake Hjelle homered to make it 11-5. 

FOURTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State got an RBI single to make it 11-6. Later, they would score on a fielder’s choice an a sacrifice fly to make it 11-8. UMC answered with a single from Kobe Senn that scored a run and another run scored on an error to make it 13-8 with UMC still in the lead. 

FIFTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State went three up and three down. UMC scored on another error, and later, Senn had another single, driving in two more runs to make it 16-8. 

SIXTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State led off with another soloe home run but couldn’t score after that. UMC started the inning with a single but wasn’t able to score

SEVENTH INNING
Both teams went three up and three down.

EIGHTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State scored on a wild pitch but still trailed by six. UMC would get an RBI single and a sacrifice fly to score two more runs and take an 18-11 lead.

NINTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State scored on an RBI double with two outs but UMC was able to secure the 18-11 victory. 

UMC is now 21-12 overall and 15-8 in conference play. Southwest Minnesota State is 19-14 overall and 13-11 in conference play. UMC hosts Bemidji State on Wednesday.
