The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Golden Eagle Baseball team won their fifth straight game with an 11-1 victory over University of Sciences (UOS) in Winter Haven, Florida.
Minnesota Crookston opened the scoring in the opening inning with Brock Reller (Jr., Grand Forks, ND) driving a triple to score Brad Morris (Jr., Auckland, New Zealand) giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead. Scott Finberg (Sr., Stillwater) continued the inning with a single driving in Reller from third base putting UMC in front 2-0 after one inning. UOS utilized a sacrifice fly in the third inning to trim the deficit down to 2-1 after three innings. Scott Finberg continued a productive day at the plate with an RBI ground out in the sixth inning driving in Brad Morris increasing Minnesota Crookston’s lead to 3-1. The Golden Eagles tacked on two more runs in the eighth inning. Finberg singled in Morris to make it 4-1 before Eli Jung (Jr., Dickinson, ND) walked with the bases loaded increasing UMC’s lead to 5-1 heading into the final inning. In the ninth inning Brock Reller blasted a three-run home run putting Minnesota Crookston in front 8-1. Eli Jung drove out UMC’s second three-run homer of the inning to close out an 11-1 win for the Golden Eagles with eight runs coming across the plate in the final two innings.
UMC improves to 8-4 on the year and wraps up its Florida trip against St. Cloud State on Friday at . University of Sciences drops to 2-11 on the year.
