The Bemidji State Beavers shot 62 percent in the first half and built a big lead and coasted to a 95-77 victory over the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle Men’s Basketball team in a game played in Bemidji.
FIRST HALF –
The game was tight early on with the teams tied at 10 over three minutes into the game. Bemidji State led 14-13 when they went on a 13-3 run over a four-minute span to build a 27-16 lead. The teams played even for the next several minutes and UMC got within a 39-30 deficit with less than six minutes left in the half. Bemidji State finished the half on a 10-2 run and they took a 49-32 lead into the half. Bemidji State shot 62 percent (20 of 32) in the half.
SECOND HALF
Bemidji State slowly built their lead to 28 points (73-45) just shy of eight minutes into the half. The Beaver lead would stay in the mid to low 20’s for the next seven minutes until UMC’s Josh Dilling (Fresh. Oshkosh, Wis) made a three-pointer to bring his team within an 87-69 deficit with less than four minutes remaining. The teams played even the rest of the way and Bemidji State held on for a 95-77 victory.
Bemidji State shot 59 percent (41 of 70) in the game, while UMC shot 39 percent (26-66).
UMC drops to 2-13 overall and 1-12 in the NSIC North. Bemidji State improves to 6-9 overall and 5-8 in the NSIC North. The teams will wrap up the season on Saturday in Bemidji.
