UMC SOFTBALL HIRES AN ASSISTANT COACH

University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle Head Softball coach Ashton Sangster has announced the hiring of Jacob Jeffries as Assistant Softball Coach.
Sangster heads into her first season at the helm of the Golden Eagles after spending the previous three years as the top assistant for the Golden Eagles.

Jeffries has a wealth of experience at collegiate softball’s peak. He spent his last two seasons as the top assistant at Bowling Green State. Prior to his time at Bowling Green State, the Florida native spent his time at Maryville University in Town and Country, Missouri, where he was a volunteer assistant for a year with the Saints. Jeffries was also a volunteer assistant at Jacksonville University.

Jeffries graduated from the University of North Florida, where he served as the student manager of the Ospreys for three seasons, helping in all aspects of leading the softball program.

“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Jacob to the Golden Eagle softball family. Jacob brings an immense understanding of mental preparation and offensive strategy,” mentioned Sangster. “His incredible work ethic, passion, and connections will help bring the softball program to new heights. Our program is very blessed to have him as part of the staff.”

The Golden Eagles return several quality contributors in 2025, including All-Conference performer Whitnee Curry. They finished 14-39 in 2024.
