The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Women’s soccer team was outshot 24-7 by the visiting Upper Iowa Peacocks in a 3-0 loss on a rain covered UMC Soccer Field in an NSIC match made-up Monday morning after a weather postponement Sunday.
Both teams struggled early in the match with the rain and wind with neither side finding the net until 42:13 into the first half when Emily Fellowes (R-Soph., Christchurch, New Zealand) scored giving Upper Iowa a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Peacocks added to their lead just 2:56 into the second half when Facienne Graham (Sr., Ashland, OR) sent a pass to Haley Ramberg (Soph., Blaine) who deposited the ball into the net doubling the visitors’ advantage to 2-0. With 5:06 remaining Emily Fellowes tallied her second goal of the match closing out Upper Iowa’s 3-0 win.
UMC drops to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in NSIC games. The Golden Eagles return to the field on Friday when Minnesota Crookston travels to Marshall to take on Southwest Minnesota State at 3:00 P.M. Upper Iowa improves to 1-4-2 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play.
