An odd-looking cloud was spotted over Crookston and the area Tuesday. Tom Helgeson, of Christian Brothers Ford, took a picture of the cloud and asked WDAY Television Meteorologist John Wheeler about the cloud. Wheeler’s response is below –
“It appears to be a high-level cirrus cloud due to its wispiness. It even shows up on the regional satellite imagery. I suspect it is a contrail left by a jet plane at a high altitude… likely 30,000 feet or higher. And the exhaust quickly formed the cloud due to the high humidity at that level.”
