Tyler Beeck (a Winona State golfer from Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin) beat Vance Harren (former UMC golfer and Ernotte Hiller champion in 2006 and 2013 and runner-up in 2007) 2-1 in the 91st Annual Ernotte Hiller Memorial Labor Day Golf Tournament at Minakwa Golf Course.
Beeck beat Jon Sauer 2-1 in the semi-finals and Harren beat Eric Schultz 6-5 in the other semi-final match to get to the championship. Beeck is a senior at Winona State this fall and is a member of the Men’s Golf team and came to Crookston with his teammate Isaac Westlake (Crookston High School grad and current Winona State golfer). “It was a lot of fun all week. It was the first time up here and I enjoyed playing the course and getting the experience of playing in the tournament. It was a lot of fun playing against Vance in the final round, knowing he has been a two-time champion so it was pretty cool playing him,” said Beeck. “My buddy Isaac Westlake brought me up here. It’s my senior year of college and I haven’t been up to Crookston yet, so it was a perfect weekend to come up.” Winona State starts the season with the Watkins Invitational in Lake City on September 6 and 7.
In the consolation championship, Connor Humble (UMC Golfer) beat Dane Anderson. 77 golfers competed in this year’s tournament and Nick Bergan was the qualifying round medalist with a 71.
