#10 ADA-BORUP-WEST SWEEPS CROOKSTON PIRATE VOLLEYBALL

The Crookston Pirate Volleyball found out why the Ada-Borup-West Cougars are ranked #10 in the Class A polls as the Cougars rolled to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-9) victory in a match played in Ada.

FIRST SET
Ada-Borup-West started off strong getting and took a 4-1 lead from a pair of kills from Malayna Syverson. Crookston’s Naomi Johnson would get a kill to cut Ada-Borup-West’s lead to 8-3. Crookston would go on a four-point run with a Mackenzie Funk kill to get within a 12-8 deficit. The Cougars would respond with seven straight points and multiple kills from Morgan Engel, and they took a 19-8 lead. Crookston scored three of the next four points, but it was all Ada-Borup-West from there as they cruised the rest of the way to a 25-12 set victory.

SECOND SET
Ada-Borup-West would also begin the second set strong, going on a 10-0 run to start. Emma Laplante would get two straight kills to put Crookston on the board, and the Pirates would bring it back to 10-4. Ada-Borup-West would quickly respond with another kill from Syverson. After the Cougars hit into the net, Crookston was within a 12-5 deficit. The Cougars scored the next six points, including an ace from Callandra Solseng. Crookston answered with two points off Joey Nesseth serves, but Ada-Borup-West would end the set on an 8-1 run to win 25-9.

THIRD SET
The third set was more competitive as the teams were tied at 1 and 2, but Ada-Borup-West served up two aces in a run of four straight points. The Cougars continued to dominate as they cruised to a 25-9 set win to win the match 3-0.

Crookston drops to 1-4 on the season and travels to Thief River Falls on Tuesday. Ada-Borup-West improves to 9-2.
