Minnesota State High School League fall sport practices will start on Monday, August 16.  Good luck to all coaches and athletes on the first week of practice.

The Crookston High School Fall sports teams will start practice on Monday, August 16.  Below is the first weeks practice schedule for the teams –

Girls swimming –
August 16 – Dryland at the CHS parking lot 6 to 7:00 a.m.  Pool practice from 4:15 to 6:00 p.m.
August 17 – Dryland at the CHS parking lot 6 to 7:00 a.m.  Pool practice from 4:15 to 6:00 p.m.
August 18 – Dryland at the CHS parking lot 6 to 7:00 a.m.  Pool practice from 4:15 to 6:00 p.m.
August 19 – Riverside hills with Soccer from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.   Pool practice from 4:15 to 6:00 p.m.
August 20 – Pool practice from 6 to 7:00 a.m.

Boys soccer –
August 16 – 7:30 to 10:00 a.m.
August 17 – 7:30 to 10:00 a.m.
August 18 – 7:30 to 10:00 a.m.
August 19 – 7:30 to 10:00 a.m.
August 20 – 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. (Intra-squad scrimmage)

Girls soccer –
August 16 – 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

August 18 – 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at Veteran’s Memorial Walkway.  5 to 7:00 p.m. Hawaiian themed day

August 20 – 6:30 to 8:00 a.m.  Full practice

Football (9-12th grade) –
August 12 – Equipment handout August 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the blue shed behind the high school
August 16 – 6:30 to 8:30.  Breakfast/chalk talk from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and practice again from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
August 17 – 6:30 to 8:30.  8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Weights for Seniors and juniors and breakfast for sophomores and freshmen.  9:30 to 10:30 a.m. weights for sophomores and freshmen and breakfast for seniors and juniors.

Girls Tennis –
August 16 – 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Crookston High School tennis courts if they are done.  Check the remind app.  If the courts aren’t done by Monday, 7-8th will be at Shuster Park courts and 9-12 at the Highland courts.
August 17 – 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
August 18 – 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
August 19 – 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
August 20 – Matches at Moorhead

The University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle volleyball team has been picked to finish 14th out of 16 teams in the Northern Sun Conference preseason coaches volleyball poll.

The Golden Eagles didn’t have a season because of COVID last season.  In 2019, UMC finished with a record of 4-24 (2-18 NSIC). Head Coach Sarah Morgan enters her fifth season at the helm of the Golden Eagles. Nick Meseck enters his first season as an assistant coach under Morgan.

In 2019, Lauren Wallace (Sr. Bloomington) was third on the team in kills (128), points (154.0), and points per set (1.59). UMC only has three returners from the 2019 team along with Bailey Mulcahy (Soph. Fertile), and Natalie Koke (Jr. Caledonia, Wisconsin).

Concordia-St. Paul was picked to win the NSIC, receiving 11 of the 16 first-place votes for a total of 219 points. Minnesota Duluth was picked second with 194 points while St. Cloud State was third with 192 points and three first-place votes.

Winona State’s Megan Flom was selected as the NSIC Preseason Player of the Year.

The Golden Eagles will open the season on September 3 at the Steel City Showcase in Pueblo, Colorado. The first serve is set for 2 P.M., against Fort Hays State.

The Ox Cart Days 5K/Little Tykes race, sponsored by Biermaier Chiropractic Clinic and Altru will be held on August 21.
The cost is $25 for the 5K and free for the Little Tykes race.

The 17th Annual Crookston Blue Line Club Golf Scramble will be held on Friday, August 20 at Minakwa Golf Course in Crookston.
It will be a five-person scramble with registration at 8:00 a.m. and a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
