Crookston Softball knocks off the Northern Freeze again

The Crookston Pirate Softball team scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat the Northern Freeze on Agassiz Valley Conference night in Thief River Falls.

FIRST INNING-
The Freeze had a one-out walk before the next two batters were retired.
Crookston got on the board in the bottom of the inning as Brea Lessard doubled and after an out, Rilynn Aubol doubled to score a run for a 1-0 lead.

SECOND INNING-
The Freeze’s first batter singled before the runner was out at second base on a fielder’s choice. Erickson walked before Stienhauer singled to score a run to tie the game at 1-1. Peterson walked and Reese singled to score a run for a 2-1 lead. Rominiski walked in a run and two runs scored on two seperate errors for a 5-1 lead.
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.

THIRD INNING –
With one out, the Freeze drew a walk and the next two batters were retired.
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.

FOURTH INNING-
The Freeze’s Waterworth reached on an err, and Wawrzyniak walked before the next batter was retired.
Crookston led off the bottom of the inning with back-to-back hits by pitches, with Shyuh Burnette and Rulynn Aubol reaching. Brynna Kopecky grounded out, but a run scored. Emma Pierson knocked in a run on a bloop single to get within a 5-3 deficit. Payton Demarais singled, and after an out, Ally Wagner singled to score two runs to tie the game at 5-5. Leia Parkin doubled and Brea Lessard singled to score two more runs for a 7-5 lead.

FIFTH INNING-
The Freeze responded with a single and two walks to load the bases. The next batter hit a ground ball to the shortstop and the Pirates got the out at home. The next batter hit a ground ball to third base and Burnette got the out at home. The next batter singled to score two runs to tie the game at 7-7.
Crookston’s Aubol singled, stole second and third bases and scored on a Pierson groundout to take an 8-7 lead.

SIXTH INNING-
The Freeze started the inning with a pair of singles. The next two batters were retired The Freeze knocked in a run on a Pirate error to tie the game at 8-8.
Crookston’s Cora Prudhomme Shane led off the bottom of the inning with a walk. Wagner reached on a fielder’s choice before a Parkin double scored a run for a 9-8 lead. Lessard followed with a single to left field to score another run for a 10-8 lead.

SEVENTH INNING-
The Northern Freeze had two walks and with one out the next two batters were retired and Crookston won the game 10-8.

Crookston improves to 2-11 on the year and will wrap up the regular season on Friday when they play the West Marshall Fusion. The Northern Freeze drops to 3-14 on the year.
