The Crookston Pirate Boys Tennis team had six individuals competing in the Section 8A Boys Individual Tennis tournament in Glenwood and all six were eliminated in the first round or quarterfinals.
DOUBLES –
Evan Christensen and Isaac Thomforde received the eighth seed and easily beat the #9 seed Marcus Wolf and Connor Gulbranson of Osakis 6-0, 6-2.
The task was significantly tougher in the quarterfinals as Christensen, and Thomforde lost to the #1 seed Dylan Hahn and Jack Onkka of Thief River Falls, 6-0, 6-3, and were eliminated.
Jack Garmen and Reggie Winjum received the fifth seed and played the #12 seed Ethan Leopold and Reno Schierer of Fergus Falls. The Fergus Falls duo won the first set 6-2, but Jack and Reggie bounced back to win a marathon second set 7-5 before winning the third set 6-3 to win the match.
In the quarterfinals, Garmen and Winjum played the fourth seed Damon Uhde and Nik VanDyke of Minnewaska Area and lost 6-4, 6-1, and were eliminated.
SINGLES –
Crookston Pirate senior Erik Coauette received the 8th seed and beat the #9 seed Thomas McMahon of East Grand Forks 6-3, 6-4.
In the quarterfinals, Erik lost to the #1 seed Isaac Maddock of Osakis 6-0, 6-0 and was eliminated.
Kaleb Armstrong received the 12th seed and lost in the first round to #5 seed Kenny Schmiesing of New London-Spicer 6-1, 6-1, and was eliminated.
