AUTHORITIES CHASE CAR FROM GRAND FORKS TO CROOKSTON, SUSPECT GOT AWAY

Early Tuesday (April 19), the Polk County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Grand Forks County Dispatch who advised the Grand Forks Police Department was in pursuit of a vehicle that was coming into Polk County. Grand Forks units terminated their pursuit at the state line and the vehicle continued west on Polk County Road 9. Polk County Deputies responded to the area and located the vehicle a short time later in rural Fisher. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle and it again fled. Deputies pursued the vehicle to the south side of Crookston. The vehicle fled into a neighborhood where the pursuit terminated at Newton Avenue and South Hubbard Street suspect then fled on foot.

The Crookston Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office searched the area for the suspect. The Polk County K9 unit was deployed. K9 Buffy and K9 Rex were able to track the suspect for approximately 1.5 miles before they eventually lost the track.

There is no threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
