CARTER COAUETTE SIGNS LETTER OF INTENT TO PLAY FOOTBALL AT MINOT STATE

Crookston High School senior Carter Coauette signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota, and play football for the Beavers.

Coauette is in his final year of varsity wrestling and is coming off winning the championship at the NW Invite at Fertile at 172 pounds. Coauette has made it to state in wrestling for three consecutive years. In football, Coauette had two rushing touchdowns and led the Pirates in passing yards with 314 yards and passing touchdowns with three. Coauette also led the Pirates in receptions with 13 and was second on the team in receiving yards with 79 yards. Coauette was recently named the Crookston Rotary Club’s student of the month.

Coauette chose Minot State because he talked to the players and coaches and felt very welcome, and it felt like home. He also said he really enjoyed the atmosphere of the program. He dreamt of playing collegiate football as a kid playing football in the backyard. He will major in entrepreneurship and hopes to take those skills back to the farm, where he said he learned his hard work and discipline. Coauette will be playing defensive back at Minot State, and earlier today was talking to the wrestling coach about the possibility of being a two-sport athlete. He acknowledged it would be a lot of work but is excited for the challenge and the future.

Minot State is an NCAA Division 2 school and a member of the NSIC conference, which includes Augustana, Bemidji State, Concordia-St. Paul, University of Mary, Minnesota State Mankato, MSU Moorhead, UMC, Minnesota Duluth, Northern State, St. Cloud State, Sioux Falls, Southwest Minnesota State, Wayne State, and Winona State.
