Crookston and nine other cities receive a MnDOT Grant

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced that ten Minnesota cities will receive funding support from the latest round of Active Transportation Planning Assistance to help them increase the number of people walking and biking to destinations in their communities.

“MnDOT’s Active Transportation Planning Assistance program brings together neighbors to dream big and develop a work plan for building their own network for walking and bicycling,” said Will Wlizlo, MnDOT Active Transportation coordinator. “This assistance helps cities reduce pollution, curb traffic, revitalize Main Streets, and increase residents’ health and safety.”

Recipients include:

  • Crookston: Community-wide Active Transportation Plan
  • Duluth: Corridor Plan for 2nd Street
  • La Crescent: Community-wide Active Transportation Plan
  • Mora: Community-wide Active Transportation Plan
  • Mountain Lake: Community-wide Active Transportation Plan
  • North Mankato: Community-wide Active Transportation Plan
  • St. Anthony Village: Community-wide Active Transportation Plan
  • St. James: Community-wide Active Transportation Plan
  • St. Louis County: Corridor Plan for Arrowhead Road (CSAH 29)
  • Worthington: Community-wide Active Transportation Plan

Funded by the Minnesota Legislature, the program offers an estimated $100,000 worth of technical assistance from a consultant, such as developing an action plan and demonstration project. The communities will not receive money directly from MnDOT. Each community is responsible for implementation costs (e.g., for construction) of their action plan.
