CROOKSTON BOYS TENNIS BLANKS MOORHEAD

The Crookston Pirates Boy’s Tennis team battled the Moorhead Spuds in Moorhead on Tuesday afternoon. The two teams met earlier this season with Crookston winning 6-1, but the Pirates took it one step further this time winning the match 7-0.

Crookston won all three doubles matches in straight sets. The duo of Nathan Kelly and Mason Owens got a win at #1 doubles by a score of 6-3, 6-2, and at #2 doubles Austin Crawford and Kaleb Armstrong scored a 6-3, 6-4 victory. George French and Tim Brule finished off the sweep for the doubles matches with a 6-1, 6-3 straight-set victory at #3 doubles. 

In the singles matches, Erik Coauette avenged a loss at the #1 singles spot to Oscar Bergeson. When the two met earlier in the season, it was Bergeson winning in straight sets, but this time it was Coauette coming out on top 6-3, 2-6, and 10-8 in the third set tiebreaker. Jack Garmen faced a different opponent this time at the #2 singles spot, but it was a similar result with a straight-set victory 6-0, 6-3.

Isaac Thomforde continued his impressive season with a win at #3 singles 6-2, 6-1, and Reggie Winjum finished off the sweep for Crookston with a win at the #4 singles spot 6-1, 6-7(4), and then 10-5 in the third set tiebreaker. 

Crookston improves to 8-9 on the season and will be back in action this Friday when they host a triangular with East Grand Forks and Perham.
