CROOKSTON GIRL’S GOLF FINISH SIXTH AT THE FERGUS FALLS MEET

The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Golf team shot a 369 and finished sixth out of seven teams at the Fergus Falls Invitational at the Pebble Lake Golf Course in Fergus Falls.  Detroit Lakes won the meet with an impressive 308, 38 strokes better than Pequot Lakes.

Joslynn Leach led the Pirates with an 84.  Leach had eight pars, eight bogies, and two double-bogies.  “She had a nice round and putted the ball well,” said Coach Perreault. “She had a college coach from Concordia following her so she had a little extra pressure.”

Sophia Rezac had her personal best round of the season with an 88.  Rezac had one birdie, five pars, nine bogies, one double-bogey, and two triple-bogies.  “She beat her best score by 11 strokes,” said Coach Perreault. “She had mom, dad, grandpa, uncle, and other family members that live in the area following her today.  I think she was also fired up because her little sister beat her in the East Grand Forks meet, so she bounced back nicely.”

Hannah Brouse shot a 94 for the third-best score. “Hannah struggled with her go-to club, the putter today,” said Coach Perreault. “She didn’t have the score she was looking for.”

Ava Martin continues to golf well as the seventh-grader shot a 103.  “She played well today,” said Coach Perreault. “She made some good decisions and posted one of her best scores of the year.”

Grace Fischer shot a 105. “Grace is still looking to get the sub-100 round,” said Coach Perreault. “She had one or two holes that prevented her from reaching that goal today.”

Samantha Rezac finished with a 113. “Samantha said she had everything going until a horn honked in her backswing,” said Coach Perreault.  “She missed the ball on that swing and she lost her concentration after that.”

Crookston will wrap up the regular season with a meet in East Grand Forks on Tuesday.
