CROOKSTON GIRLS SOCCER TIES PELICAN RAPIDS

The Crookston Pirate Girls Soccer team played their final regular season match of the season against Pelican Rapids. Both teams scored a goal in the second half and the match ended in a draw.

FIRST HALF
The first half saw even play from both teams. Pelican Rapids held Crookston to no shots on goal while the Pirates only allowed six shots on goal. Reese Swanson made her return in net and she saved all six shots in the first half. The cold, wet and windy conditions made the day a struggle. Joslyn Wallace, Katelyn Christiansen and Nashalie Tellez made great defensive plays as the Pirates and Vikings went into halftime tied at 0-0.

SECOND HALF –
The second half saw the offenses come alive on both sides. Crookston had six shots on net in the second half. Madeline Harbott got the scoring started in the 54th minute to put the Pirates up 1-0. The Vikings responded just two minutes later when Ariana Villagomez scored to tie it up at 1-1. Pelican Rapids tallied another six shots on net in the second, of which Reese Swanson saved five. The rest of the second half saw even defensive play as no more goals were scored, the two teams settled for a 1-1 tie.

Crookston improves to 4-7-3 on the season and awaits their playoff seeding. Pelican Rapids improves to 4-5-2.

Crookston J.V. won by a score of 2-1.
