CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC DEPARTMENT HOSTING ANNUAL “CLASSIC NOEL” ON DEC. 5

The Crookston High School Choir and Orchestra will be performing their annual concert “Classic Noel” on Sunday, December 5. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Crookston High School Auditorium.

Crookston High School Orchestra Teacher Haley Ellis has been a part of six Classic Noels, and she gave an overview of what people can expect. “This is our twenty-first Classic Noel, and it is a combined dinner and concert put on by the Crookston High School Choir and Orchestra programs,” said Ellis. “It is quite the event. If you go in the night of, the commons will be completely decorated, our dinner will take place there, there will also be a Silent Auction taking place that night. So, it’s a very classy little event that the public enjoys. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes.”

The concert was unable to happen last year due to COVID-19, making this experience new to many students. The Choir and Orchestra will each have their own set they will be performing, and there will be a mix of Christmas and traditional songs. The two groups will also end the concert by performing a piece together.

The dinner will be catered by the Irishman’s Shanty this year, and Ellis went through what will be on the menu. “The meal this year is Ham, Baked Potato, Dinner Roll Tossed Salad, Carrots, and Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream,” said Ellis. “There will also be some Coffee and Cider available as well.”

Ellis also said there is still lots of work to be done, and that Silent Auction items are still being gathered for the event. “We are currently still gathering them, and letters have been sent out to local businesses in the community making them aware of the event,” said Ellis. “We usually get a great response from the community, and it’s one of the biggest fundraisers for our music department, and it usually does very well.”

For those interested in donating to the Silent Auction, you can call the Crookston High School at 218-281-2144 and ask for Haley Ellis. Tickets for the event can be purchased at the following businesses: Montague’s Flower Shop, Crookston Floral, or the Crookston High School Offices. The cost to attend the event is $22, which covers dinner and the concert. Tickets can be purchased before the night of the event up until Thanksgiving. You can also purchase tickets to the concert the night of the event, which will be regular admission of $4 for adults and $3 for students.
