Crookston Pirate Boys and Girls Track finish 5th at the Frozen 5 meet

The Crookston Pirate Boys and Girls track and field teams continued their 2025 season when they competed in the Frozen 5 meet in Warren on Tuesday.
Five teams competed: Crookston, East Grand Forks, Roseau, Thief River Falls and West Marshall. Crookston placed 5th in both the boys and girls section. In the boys, Crookston finished with 38.5 points, and East Grand Forks won with 216.5. On the girls’ side, Crookston finished with 70 points, and West Marshall won with 227 points.

GIRLS –
The Pirate girls were led by Ashlyn Bailey, as the junior continued her fantastic start to the year, She won the 100 meters with a 13.3 time, edging out the rest of the competition by 0.3 seconds. She also placed 2nd in the 200 meters, missing out on the win by 0.4 seconds. The girls team also had Kinsley Wangen, Catelyn Maruska, Lyla Oman, and Lauren Tull
place 4th in the 4×400 relay, Chloe Boll, Grace Boll, Brooklyn Waldal, and Ashlyn Bailey place 3rd in the 4×100 relay, and Kinsley Wangen, Grace Boll, Morgan Boll, and Brooklyn Waldal place 5th in the 4×200 relay. Aubrey Bartrum also had a 2nd place finish in 100m Hurdles while two different Pirates placed top 5 in pole vault.

BOYS –
The Pirate Boys were led by Gavin Reitmeier; he had a great day, placing 4th in the 200m with a 26.2 second time, and he was also part of the 4×200 relay
that placed 4th with a 1:45.5. The only other top 5 finisher was Peter Wiersma, who finished 5th in the long jump, jumping 4.98 meters.
