The Crookston Pirate Boys Soccer team takes on Mesabi East for a Saturday matinee at KROX Radio Stadium at Crookston High School. The game is Parents Day for Crookston and will start at about 2:15. You can watch the game by clicking on the video below.
Crookston is 7-4 on the year while Mesabi East is 2-11-1 on the year.
FIRST HALF –
SECOND HALF –
Crookston came out strong in the second half as they started putting more pressure on the Mesabi East defense and it showed. Crookston’s Matthew Contreras was taken down in the box and was awarded a penalty kick 9:24 into the half and kicked it into the left side of the net to tie the game at 1-1. Crookston continued to pressure Mesabi East and a throw-in by Carter Fee led Contreras and he caught up with the ball and was taken down at the top of the box for another penalty kick eight minutes after the first one. Contreras blasted a kick into the net and the Pirates led 2-1 on two penalty kick goals.
Crookston now falls to 7-4 on the season, while Hibbing gets their first win of the year, making their record 1-7-1.
