Crookston Pirate Girls Tennis falls to Pequot Lakes and Park Rapids

The Crookston Pirate Girls Tennis team lost to the Pequot Lakes Patriots 5-2 and lost to the Park Rapids Panthers 6-1 in a triangular in Park Rapids on Tuesday.

CROOKSTON vs PEQUOT LAKES
Crookston got the morning started against Pequot Lakes, and their positive results came from third and fourth singles. Haddie Halland continued her great play in fourth singles after going 3-1 on Saturday as she defeated Mairin Kennedy 6-1, 6-2. Joining her was Ella Capistran, who jumped into singles for this match and performed admirably, winning 6-1, 6-4. Lauren Tull and Kaylen Bedard in first and second singles fell in straight sets.
In doubles, the closest match was in third doubles, where Katie Seaver and Tegan Fanfulik played super well but just couldn’t get the crucial points at the end as they lost 6-4, 6-4. Pequot Lakes then took control in first and second doubles, as Crookston was shut out in first doubles and only one two games in second doubles.

CROOKSTON vs PARK RAPIDS
The second match of the day was against Park Rapids, and the only win for the Pirates belonged to Haddie Halland, who continued to thrive in fourth singles. Lauren Tull played a close first set against Haley Larson before Larson eventually pulled away for a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Park Rapids then continued to play well, with Makenna Maanum winning 6-3, 6-2 in second singles and Madi Himango nearly shutting out Ella Capistran in third singles, winning 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles, the closest Crookston match was in second doubles. After being shut out in the first set, Sylvia Christiansen and Avery Mathews played a great second set but just fell short, losing 6-0, 6-4. First and third doubles for the Pirates combined to win just five games, and the Panthers were then able to cruise to a 6-1 victory overall.
