CROOKSTON PIRATE SOFTBALL CRUISES TO VICTORY OVER RLCC

The Crookston Pirate softball team scored early and often in a 17-1 victory over the Red Lake County Central Mustangs on Thursday afternoon in a game played at Donnie Lauf Field in Crookston.

FIRST INNING – 
Crookston shut down RLCC in the top of the first and responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Emily Bowman led off with a single, stole second base, and scored on a Madi Bruggeman single for a 1-0 lead. Reese Swanson was hit by a pitch, and Bruggeman scored on a ground out for a 2-0 lead.

SECOND INNING – 
RLCC was retired in 1-2-3 fashion in the top of the inning. Crookston responded with 15 runs in the inning to blow the game open. Emilee Tate singled and scored on a Madi Abrams triple. Bowman reached, and Dani Kresle singled to score another run.  Bruggeman doubled and stole third base, Swanson walked, Kambelle Freije doubled to score a couple of runs, Shayla Azure doubled to score another run.  Alex tripled, Tate singled again, Abrams singled, Bowman, Kresl, and Bruggeman walked.  Swanson singled, and Freije doubled, and before the inning was over, the Pirates led 17-0.

THIRD INNING – 
RLCC had runners at second and third base with two outs, but they got out of the jam without giving up a run.
Crookston went to the bench in the bottom of the inning and didn’t score.

FOURTH INNING – 
RLCC had a double and two singles and scored a run before the Pirates got out of the inning, only allowing one run, and won the game 17-1 in four innings.
