CROOKSTON PIRATE SOFTBALL SWEPT BY ROSEAU IN A DOUBLEHEADER

The Crookston Pirate Softball team committed 21 errors in two games and the Roseau Rams cruised to 14-1 and 17-4 victories in a Section 8AA double-header played at Donnie Lauf Memorial Field in Crookston.

In the first game, Roseau scored four runs in the top of the first inning taking advantage of several errors, and two hits for a 4-0 lead.  Roseau added three more runs in the second inning with a pair of doubles, a single, and two more Crookston errors for a 7-0 lead after two innings.  After a scoreless third inning, Roseau added five more runs in the fourth inning behind three walks, three hits and a Crookston error for a 12-0 lead.  Crookston finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when Allie Love reached on an error, advanced to second base on a walk and scored on a Kasey Cwikla single.
Roseau answered with two more runs in the fifth inning and held on to win 14-1.

GAME TWO –
In the second game, Roseau started off the game by taking advantage of four walks and scored two runs to take a 2-0 lead.   Crookston responded with two runs in the bottom of the first inning when Emma Boll led off with a single and advanced to second base on a ground out before she scored on a Jenna Coauette single.  Jenna scored on a single by Allie Love and the game was tied 2-2 after the first inning.
In the second inning, Roseau took advantage of an error, two walks and two singles to score three runs and take a 5-2 lead.
In the third inning, Crookston added two more runs when Maddi Salentine reached on an error, Ashlyn Genereux singled, Sophia Steiner was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Brylee Lessard walked to score a run.  Another run came into score on a ground out and Crookston trailed 5-4 after three innings.
Roseau broke the game open with 10 runs in the fourth inning.  Roseau had five hits and took advantage of six walks and one error to take a 15-4 lead.  Roseau added two more runs in the top of the fifth and won the game 17-4 in five innings.
Crookston drops to 0-14 on the year and will travel to Park Rapids on Monday.  Roseau improves to 8-6 on the year.
