UPDATE (3:30 p.m. 1-15-26)
The deceased male who was located on 1/14/26 on the Greenway is Grand Forks resident, Brandon Ruth
(34yoa). The investigation is still on-going, but there is not believed to be any threat to the public, and the
exact cause of death is still unknown, pending medication examination.
ORIGINAL STORY
On Wednesday, January 14, at 2:07 p.m., a passerby called the Grand Forks Police Department about an unresponsive male located in the Greenway area, south of the railroad bridge. Officers arrived and located a male subject, face down in the snow. No life-saving measures were taken, as the male was deceased. The preliminary investigation has not identified any obvious trauma or cause of death, but due to the cold, a complete examination of the body has not been performed as of the time of this release. Based upon that information, it is not believed to be any known threat to the public.
