Dr. Edmund Irankunda joins the RiverView Emergency Medicine Team

RiverView Health is excited to welcome Dr. Edmund Irankunda to its Emergency Medicine Team. “Dr. Irankunda brings an exceptional skill set that will ensure high-quality clinical care for patients in our community needing emergency care,” stated April Grunhovd, vice president of Patient Care Services. “Furthermore, Dr. Irankunda exhibits wonderful bedside manner & providing clear explanations, actively listening, demonstrating empathy, and ensuring patients are informed and supported during what can often be a stressful experience.”

With an undergraduate degree in nursing, Dr. Irankunda completed his Doctor of Medicine degree at Indiana University School of Medicine-South Bend. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati and is board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Most recently, Dr. Irankunda served as the assistant professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati Department of Emergency Medicine, providing emergency clinical care at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, as well as overseeing residents and medical residents in their Shock Resuscitation Unit. Dr. Irankunda has a passion for emergency care, mentorship, and teaching.

In his free time, Dr. Irankunda enjoys being outdoors – walking, hiking, biking, and visiting amusement parks with his wife and two children.
