FEBRUARY FITNESS FEVER TO HOST SLEDDING ON SUNDAY IN CENTRAL PARK

Polk County Public Health, the Polk County Wellness Coalition, and community partners and volunteers will host a February Fitness Fever event Sunday, February 12.

This Sunday’s event is sledding in Crookston’s Central Park from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Crookston Community Pool parking lot.
“That’s been a really popular day that has been a staple of February Fitness Fever for a number of years, and we ask people to bring some sleds and come on out. We’ll have a bonfire, some prizes, outdoor fun, snacks, hot chocolate, and hopefully some good weather ahead to enjoy that day,” Wellness Coordinator Amanda Lien explained. “We encourage people to get out and sled in that community. I know there are some great sledding hills in Fertile as well as other places. It’s promoting the idea that even when it’s cold, we can dress for the weather and get outside.” Prizes for the event will be drawn throughout the day for everyone who puts their names in at the door.

Next Sunday, February 19, will be a free Ice-Skating Day at rinks around Polk County, including the Crookston Sports Center, the outdoor Fosston Skating Rink, and East Grand Forks Civic Center.

On the final Sunday of the month, February 26, Public Health is partnering with the Crookston Pickleball Club to offer a day of Pickleball at the University of Minnesota Crookston Wellness Center.

The Polk County Wellness Coalition wants to thank its many volunteers and partners who are our true champions of wellness and collaborate with them to put healthy choices within reach. Events may be rescheduled depending on weather conditions.
