FERTILE LEGION BASEBALL DEFEATED BY ROSEAU IN SUB-STATE TOURNAMENT

Fertile Legion Baseball Post #238 started off strong but ultimately falls to Roseau Legion Post #24 by a score of 17-4 in the first round of the Northwest Sub-State tournament at Tony Stukel Field in Warroad.

FIRST INNING
Fertile began the inning with back-to-back singles from Bryer Strem and Steve Sather, before Easton Petry doubled to score a run. Tysen Stuhaug and Preston Hanson grounded out, bringing in a run a piece. The final batter was retired, ending the half-inning with Fertile taking a 3-0 lead.
The first Roseau batter was retired before a pitch hit Alex Wensloff. Aaron Wensloff singled before Alex Wensloff scored on a wild pitch. Cooper Flaag doubled to score a run before Gavin Jensen singled to score a run and tie the game at 3-3. Tanner George and Eli Wensloff doubled to score a run giving Roseau a 5-3 lead. The next two batters were retired, ending the inning.

SECOND INNING
Fertile’s batters were retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
Roseau’s AJ Klint was hit by a pitch before the next batter was retired. Aaron Wensloff drew a walk before Cooper Flay doubled to score a run. The next two Roseau batter were retired, ending the inning with Roseau leading 6-3.

THIRD INNING
Fertile began the inning with a lead-off single from Bryce Strem. The next batter lined into a double play, before the next batter was retired.
Roseau began the inning with a lead off walk from Eli Wensloff before Cody Otto singled to score a run. Chase Bachleitner reached on a fielders choice before he was caught stealing. The next batter was retired, ending the inning with Roseau extending their lead 7-3.

FOURTH INNING
Fertile’s first batter was retired before Hanson drew a walk. The next two batters were retired.
Roseau began with Alex Wensloff reaching on an error before Aaron Wensloff hit a 2-run home run to extend Roseau’s lead 9-3. Flaag drew a walk before Jensen singled and George walked to load the bases. Eli Wensloff hit a sacrifice fly to score a run before Jensen scored on a wild pitch. Otto singled to score a run before Bachleiner reached on a bunt and AJ Klint singled to load the bases. Alex Wensloff and Aaron Wenslof singled to score three runs before Flaag walked to load the bases. Jensen singled to score two runs before the next batter grounded into a double play to end the inning with Roseau ahead 17-3.

FIFTH INNING
The first Fertile batter was retired before a pitch hit Joseph Sorenson. Strem singled before Sather doubled to score a run. The next two batters were retired ending the game with Roseau winning 17-4.

Fertile falls to 1-7 will take on the loser of Crookston vs Warroad.
