The Fosston Greyhounds jumped out to a 17-1 to start the game and never looked back as they cruised to a 74-42 victory over the Crookston Pirate Boys Basketball game in Fosston.

FIRST HALF
For the second straight game, Crookston struggled to take care of the ball early, and this time, the Fosston Greyhounds, behind their full-court pressure and run-and-gun offense to build a 9-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game while forcing Crookston to call a time out.  Four minutes into the game, Crookston’s Tanner Giese picked up his second foul of the game, and Coach Greg Garmen elected to keep him in the game. It paid off because Giese scored the first Pirate point of the game by making a free throw.  10 seconds later, Fosston added another basket as Tony Carlin scored in the paint to give his team an 11-1 lead with 12:41 left in the half.   About one minute later, Giese picked up his third foul and had to sit the rest of the half.  Fosston continued to dominate and scored six more points for a 17-1 lead halfway through the half.
Crookston finally got back on the board with two Hunter Nicholas free throws.  Fosston answered with four points before Crookston’s offense finally got going when Ryan Abeld buried a three-pointer from the corner, and after a Fosston three-pointer, the Pirates responded with back-to-back Nicholas baskets to get his team within a 24-10 deficit.  Fosston responded with a Carson Boushee three-pointer before Crookston’s Gavin Winger made back-to-back three-pointers to get within a 32-19 deficit with two minutes left in the half.
