FOSSTON SWEEPS CROOKSTON LEGION BASEBALL

The Crookston American Legion Post #20 Baseball team was swept by Fosston 3-0 and 15-0 in a doubleheader at Jim Karn Field in Crookston.

GAME ONE-

FIRST INNING
Fosston’s first two batters flew out to center. Tommy Simonson drew a walk and advanced to second base on a wild pitch, but Crookston pitcher Alex Longoria would get a strikeout to end the inning and the threat.
Crookston’s batters were retired in 1-2-3 fashion.

SECOND INNING
Fosston’s first two batters of the inning were retired before the next two were walked. Ashton Larsen would get an unassisted out at first base to end the inning.
Crookston began the inning with a leadoff walk from Longoria. The following two batters would be retired before the inning ended with a successful pick-off attempt.

THIRD INNING
Fosston’s batters were retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
Crookston started the inning with a bloop single to center field from Parker Kelly. After a strikeout, Teagen Lubinski would follow with a single of his own. Lucas Miller would draw a walk to load the bases. The inning ended with a double play, and the teams were scoreless after three innings. When the double play was called at first base on a somewhat close play, the Crookston player slammed his helmet down, argued the call, and was ejected.

FOURTH INNING
Fosston began the inning with a leadoff double from Carson Boushee. He advanced to third base after an error. After a walk for Aaron Norland, Crookston would get the next three batters out, including a ground out and a call of runners interference to give Crookston a double play.
Crookston began the inning with a lead-off single from Ashton Larson, then another single from Al Longoria. The next three Crookston batters would strike out to end the inning with no runs scored.

FIFTH INNING
Fosston’s batters were retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
Crookston’s first two batters were retired before Lucas Miller hit an infield single. The next Crookston batter was retired to end the inning, with the game still tied at zero.

SIXTH INNING
Fosston’s first batter was retired before an infield single. A wild pitch put the runner on second, but the next two batters were retired.
Crookston’s batters were retired in 1-2-3 fashion.

SEVENTH INNING
The first Fosston batter was retired before Paluibicki would reach on an error, Aiden Wolfe and Cullen Norland walked to load the bases. After a Crookston pitching change, a fielder’s choice allowed a run to score. A wild pitch caused another run to score before for a 3-0 Fosston lead.
Crookston’s lead-off batter for the inning, Jackson Demarais, singled to try and start a late-inning rally, but the next three Crookston batters were all retired, and Fosston won the game 3-0 with only two hits in the game.

For Fosston-
Carson Boushee-2 for 3 run (the only hits for Fosston in the game)

 

GAME TWO-

FIRST INNING
Fosston’s batters were retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
Crookston’s batters were also retired in 1-2-3 fashion.

SECOND INNING
Fosston’s first batter would reach on an error. The next batter would hit a single. Two batters would then be retired before a walk loaded the bases. Fosston then hit a two-rbi single to go up 2-0. One more Fosston batter would reach before Crookston recorded the last out.
Crookston’s first two batters were retired before a pair of walks put two on. The next batter would be retired, ending the threat.

THIRD INNING
Fosston’s Carson Boushee reached on a walk. Brecken Levin singled to score a run.  Three of the next four batters would reach on errors, one of which brought a run home. Catcher interference would load the bases before a sacrifice fly scored another run. Hudson Boushee doubled to score two more runs to give Fosston an 8-0 lead. The third out would be recorded two batters later.
The first two Crookston batters were retired before Jackson Demarais drew a walk. The next Crookston batter would be retired to end the inning.

FOURTH INNING
Fosston’s Aaron Norland started the inning with a walk, and after a ground out, Thatcher Palubicki singled to score a run. Aiden Wolfe reached on catcher interference before the next batter flew out to center field. Fosston broke the game open big time the rest of the inning. Cullen Norland, Hudson Boushee, and Carson Boushee walked to score two more runs. Levin tripled to score three runs for a 14-0 lead. Another run scored, and Fosston led 15-0.
The first two Crookston batters grounded out before Teagen Lubinski reached on an error on the pitcher. The next batter grounded out, and Fosston won the game 15-0 in four innings.

Crookston drops to 11-7 on the year and will host Fertile-Beltrami on Friday.
