IRISHMAN’S SHANTY REWARDING SMART DECISIONS

The Irishman’s Shanty in Crookston has recently been rewarding customers who have made the decision to keep their cars overnight in the Shanty’s parking lot after a night out.

“I was just thinking about different ways to improve the Shanty and the community as well,” said the Owner of the Irishman’s Shanty, Andy Gregg, “This came to me, and I thought it would be a good idea to try and keep our roads safe, do well for our businesses, and most of all do good for everybody.”

The system that Gregg and Shanty’s staff have developed involves identifying cars that belong to customers who stay overnight in the parking lot. This is typically a sign of people making the right choice to find a ride home after alcohol consumption. When customers go back and pick up their vehicles, they may find a slip in their windshield from the restaurant.

Those who receive the slip in their windshield are now eligible to purchase any appetizer for 50% off, excluding the Carl’s Combo, which is an appetizer extravaganza that contains chicken strips, chicken wings, pockets of gold, cheese curds, mozzarella sticks, and onion rings. “This can change; it doesn’t have to be the same thing,” said Gregg, “But what we’re doing right now is half off an appetizer. So by leaving your car, we just want to reward you for making a positive decision.”

Gregg expressed his stance on the importance of road safety and ensuring that Crookston residents are responsible when getting behind the wheel after drinking. “It doesn’t matter if you’re here, (IC) Mugs, drafts, anywhere,” said Gregg, “Unfortunately, our town doesn’t have any ride-sharing at the moment, but this could be a way to promote positive decision-making.”
