NORTHWEST RESEARCH AND OUTREACH CENTER’S ANNUAL CROPS AND SOILS DAY IS JULY 18

The Northwest Research and Outreach Center’s annual Crops and Soils Day is scheduled for Wednesday, July 18 at the North Farm, one mile north of the University of Minnesota Campus on Highway 75 north. Morning registration will be at 7:45 a.m. Loading of the wagons for the  Small Grains Tours 1 and 2 will start at 8:15 with a break and a switch of tours at 10:00. A complimentary lunch will be served at noon.

Beverly Durgan: Weed Management in Small Grains.
Jim Anderson: Wheat Breeding Variety Update.
Madeleine Smith: Disease Management in Small Grains.
J Stanley: Improving Seeding Rate Recommendations for Newly-released HRSW Varieties.
Angie Peltier: Knowledge is Power: Scouting to Maintain Corn and Soybean Yield.
Ian MacRae: Bugs and Spuds and Such.
Gabriel Paiao and Jared Spackman: Managing Urea-Based Fertilizers for Improved Corn Production.
Jochum Wiersma: Short, Shorter and Shortest, Effective Use of Growth Regulators in Small Grains.

The afternoon Sugar Beet Program presenters are –
Ian MacRae: Mini-Workshop: Data Acquisition Problems.
Ashok Chanda: Management of Major Sugarbeet Root Diseases.
Tom Peters: Corn, Soybean, and Wheat Following Ethofumesate Postemergence at 128 Fluid Ounces Per Acre.
Hal Mickelson: Utilization of Boron Treatments in Sugar Beet Production.  

Crops and Soils Day is intended for producers and agricultural professionals. CEU’s are available for all tours. In case of rain, a modified program will be presented indoors and the speakers will be available for consultations.
