On Monday, May 8, at approximately 11:35 a.m., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an RV on fire North of Fertile on County Road 12. It appears the fire started in the engine compartment of the RV while it was being driven. The driver was able to safely escape the RV before it was completely engulfed by the fire. The RV was a total loss, and no injuries were reported. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire, stopping it from spreading to nearby ditches and trees. Fertile Fire Department and County EMS also responded to the scene. The fire did not appear to be suspicious.
