POLK COUNTY SOYBEAN & CORN GROWERS DONATE BOOKS TO AREA SCHOOLS

The Polk County Soybean & Corn Growers and their checkoff dollars support their schools by promoting agriculture through book donations.

When school resumes, the growers donate agricultural educational books to elementary schools in Crookston, East Grand Forks, Fosston, Mentor, Fertile, and Fisher. The endeavor aims to show the value of agriculture by increasing agricultural literacy through K-2 education. Accordingly, the Polk County Soybean & Corn Growers will bring $550 worth of books to libraries. The books were purchased through the North Dakota Farmers Union.

“We are happy to donate to the elementary school libraries to provide these learning tools for the children,” Polk County Soybean & Corn Growers President Kevin Krueger said. “It is a great opportunity to bring agriculture into the classroom.”

Four children’s books from the North Dakota Farmers Union were donated: “Where Roots Run Deep,” “Everyone Works on a Family Farm,” “The Early Snow,” and “Cows on the Move.” Dusty learns about generations of family and equipment on their farm, as well as the latest soil technology. The kids will discover how Dusty makes Grams a new gadget for his tractor to save the day!

About the Minnesota Corn Growers Association: The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) is one of the largest grassroots farm organizations in the United States. Working closely with the Minnesota Corn Research & Promotion Council, MCGA identifies and promotes opportunities for Minnesota’s 24,000 corn farmers while building connections with the non-farming public.

About the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council: The Polk County Soybean Corn Growers is affiliated with the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council, which oversees the investment of soybean checkoff dollars on behalf of approximately 25,000 farmers in Minnesota. The Council is governed by the rules of a federally mandated checkoff program that requires all soybean producers to pay a fee for the soybeans they sell. This money promotes, educates, and develops soybean market opportunities.
