SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING ISSUED FOR SOUTHWESTERN POLK COUNTY

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southwestern Polk County in Northwestern Minnesota until 6:00 p.m.

At 5:36 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Eldred, or 24 miles Southeast of Grand Forks, moving north at 30 mph with potential quarter size hail. The National Weather Service advises that all vehicles be moved inside a garage as the hail may cause damage to them.

This severe thunderstorm will be near Eldred around 5:45 p.m. and near Crookston around 5:55 p.m.

Other locations in the path of this severe thunderstorm include Fisher and Davidson.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 7:00 p.m. for Northwestern Minnesota, for your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

The City Hall Emergency Shelter is open for the public.
