What a Saturday…..The Minnesota Golden Gopher Football team played a great game and upset #4 ranked Penn State while over 6 million people watched on TV.  The Gophers played a solid game and held off a furious Penn State rally late in the game to win.  It was the best Gopher football game I have seen in my 42 years of being a Gopher fan.  It has captured the state and everybody is talking about the University of Minnesota, PJ Fleck, and the Golden Gophers.
EVERYBODY is talking about Gopher Football game vs Penn State and now the game vs Iowa.   Athletics is a window into the University.  The U of M has built a new stadium, a beautiful locker room, a great practice facility, an athletes village that cost well over $200 million.  The U of M INVESTED in their facilities, into their coaches, and into all athletics and look at what is happening…….GREAT things.

Go Gophers….Row The Boat….Ski-U-Mah!!!!!

I am trying a new saying for Golden Eagle Athletics and it hasn’t taken off yet and I’m not sure why?????

Go Golden Eagles….Row the Kayak….Ski-U-Mah!!!!

Minnesota hasn’t won at Kinnick Stadium since 1999. Iowa went 1-10 that year. Their one win? Northern Illinois. Who was a freshman on that NIU team? Philip John Fleck.

To take steal from the movie Dumb and Dumber – “So you’re saying we have a chance”

The City of East Grand Forks is looking at a $25 million plan to add a sheet of ice to the Civic Center and then turn the VFW rink into a fieldhouse that would be able to host baseball, softball, golf, football and other practices in the time of inclement weather.

It will be interesting to see what they decide to do, but the idea is great for EGF.

JOKES

A sister and brother are talking to each other when the little boy gets up and walks over to his Grandpa and says, “Grandpa, please make a frog noise.”
The Grandpa says, “No.”
The little boy goes on, “Please .. please make a frog noise.”
The Grandpa says, “No, now go play.”
The little boy then says to his sister, “Go tell Grandpa to make a frog noise.”
So the little girl goes to her Grandpa and says, “Please make a frog noise.”
The Grandpa says, “I just told your brother ‘no’ and I’m telling you ‘no’.” The little girl says, “Please .. please Grandpa make a frog noise.” The Grandpa says, “Why do you want me to make a frog noise?”
The little girl replied, “Because mommy said when you croak we can go to Disney World!”

The lawyer was cross-examining a witness.
“Isn’t it true, “he bellowed, “that you were given $500.00 to throw this case?”
The witness did not answer. Instead, he just stared out the window as though he hadn’t heard the question. The attorney repeated himself, again getting the same reaction – no response.
Finally, the judge spoke to the witness, “Please answer the question.”
“Oh,” said the startled witness, “I thought he was talking to you.”

The bartender asks the guy sitting at the bar, “What’ll you have?”
The guy answers, “A scotch, please.”
The bartender hands him the drink, and says, “That’ll be five dollars,” to which the guy replies, “What are you talking about? I don’t owe you anything for this.”
A lawyer, sitting nearby and overhearing the conversation, then says to the bartender, “You know, he’s got you there. In the original offer, which constitutes a binding contract upon acceptance, there was no stipulation of remuneration.”
The bartender was not impressed, but says to the guy, “Okay, you beat me for a drink. But don’t ever let me catch you in here again.”
The next day, the same guy walks into the bar. The bartender says, “What the heck are you doing here? I can’t believe you’ve got the audacity to come back!”
The guy says, “What are you talking about? I’ve never been to this place in my life!”
The bartender replies, “I’m very sorry, but this is uncanny. You must have a double.”
To which the guy replies, “Thank you. Make it a scotch.”
