The Crookston School District’s 27th annual Welcome Back to School Registration Day will be held in the commons at Crookston High School on Tuesday, August 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
One major change to this year’s event is the date, as Registration Day has been moved from the Thursday of Ox Cart Days Week, but according to Executive Assistant to the Superintendent Marilyn Wahouske, the decision was made to move Registration Day from the Thursday of Ox Cart Days week to Tuesday to try to avoid conflicts in schedules with the festivities already taking place in Crookston. “So we’re switching our normal Thursday, which we’ve had forever and ever,” said Wahouske. “It’s now going to be Tuesday, August 11th. The reason we changed it is to avoid too many conflicts with Ox Cart Days. It seemed like there were Ox Cart activities going on at the same time, and it was hard for parents to sometimes decide which things they wanted to attend.”
In addition to open registration for all students from preschool through 12th grade, school personnel will be available to lead tours of the middle and high school, assist in registering kids for activities, discuss transportation and bus route registration, and provide additional information about the Crookston School District. “We encourage all parents in the Crookston area, Crookston School District, to come and check it out,” stated Wahouske. “They can sign up for activities. They can fill out their free and reduced lunch forms, meet some of the school personnel here, get their bus transportation set up, and we really encourage new families to the district to come. They can take tours of the schools. So we’d like to really encourage all our parents to come on Tuesday, August 11th, for registration day.”
Families new to the district, including those with preschool and kindergarten students, are asked to bring immunization records and birth certificates for registration. Registration forms can be printed and filled out at home for submission on Registration Day. Those forms are available at https://www.crookston.k12.mn.us/.
