On Saturday, February 28 at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a snowmobile crash in Gentilly Township, northeast of Gentilly. Deputies arrived on scene along with Crookston Area Ambulance shortly thereafter and initiated life-saving measures.
The operator of the snowmobile was identified as 33-year-old Cody Teie of Thief River Falls. Teie succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Teie was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
Assisting agencies: Crookston Area Ambulance, Minnesota State Patrol and University of North Dakota Forensic Pathology.
