The University of Minnesota Crookston women’s golf team finished sixth out of 13 teams at the NSIC Championships.
UMC was in first place after the first of three rounds, shooting a 307. They led Minnesota State Mankato and Sioux Falls by one stroke.
On the second day, UMC shot a 320 for a 627, which dropped them down to fourth place and 11 strokes behind the leader. On the third and final day, the Golden Eagles shot a 330, the seventh highest score of the day, and dropped to sixth place with a three-round total of 957. Wayne State won the tournament, shooting a blistering 303 to beat Minnesota Mankato by five strokes with a 926.
UMC’s Anaka Lysne (Sr., Wahpeton, N.D.) capped off her career with a tie for third at the Championships, with rounds of 70, 78, and 81 for a 229, which was five strokes off the medalist honors. With the third-place finish, Lysne was named to the All-Tournament team.
Emma Pierson (Fr., Cherry Valley, Ill.) finished her first NSIC Championships in a tie for 12th, shooting a final day 83. Ainsley McLain (Jr., Grafton, N.D.) and Libby Dulmage (Jr., Leeds, N.D.) also shot a final day 83. Lauren Bowyer (Sr., Ivanhoe, Minn.) shot an 86 for the final round of her Golden Eagle career.
