WEST MARSHALL USES BIG INNING TO BEAT RED LAKE COUNTY BASEBALL

The Red Lake County Rebels take on the West Marshall Fusion in a loser-out game in the Section 8A Baseball tournament in Ada. The game is on KROX right now.

FIRST INNING
Red Lake County had a great start with Will Gieseke walking, Carson Erickson with a single, and Pacey Struthers was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A run scored on an error, another scored on a Brock Seeger ground out for a 2-0 lead. Ben Gullingsrud had a perfect sacrifice bunt to score another run for a 3-0 lead.
West Marshall had bases loaded with two out in the bottom of the inning but the next batter grounded out.

SECOND INNING
Red Lake County had back-to-back singles from Gieseke and Colin Taggert and runners at second and third base with one out. The runner at third was picked off, and the next batter struck out, and the threat was over.
West Marshall had a big bottom of the inning. Derek Moehrle started with a single, Nick Winge walked, and a pitch hit Dylan Widner to load the bases. Will McGlynn singled to score two runs, Jackson Kekke walked to load the bases before Demetrius Oberg singled in a run for a 3-3 tie. Aiden Anderson crushed a line drive over the left fielder’s head for a bases-clearing triple for a 6-3 Fusion lead. A few batters later, Widner singled to score another run, and West Marshall led 7-3.

THIRD INNING
Red Lake County only sent three batters to the plate in the third inning, and West Marshall’s Anderson blasted a double, but the other three batters in the inning were retired.

FOURTH INNING
Red Lake County got a run back when Ben Gullingsrud walked, stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a Gunner Halvorson ground out to get within a 7-4 deficit.
West Marshall responded with four runs. Woinarowicz struck out but reached on a wild pitch. Moehrle walked, and Winge bunted for a single to load the bases. After two outs, Kekke singled in a run, Oberg singled in two runs, and another run scored on a wild pitch for an 11-4 lead.

FIFTH INNING
Red Lake County got a two-out walk from Struthers before the next batter flew out to center field for an out.
West Marshall responded with a Safranski walk and later scored on a Winge triple for a 12-4 lead.

SIXTH INNING
Red Lake County seventh-grader Gullingsrud singled with one out before the next two batters were retired.
West Marshall only sent three batters to the plate in the bottom of the inning and took a 12-4 lead into the seventh inning.
