CHS ONE-ACT PLAY IS FAST PACED LIFE STORY OF SEVEN FRIENDS

The Crookston High School One Act play follows the mold of NBC’s This Is Us or ABC’s A Million Little Things, centered around seven second-graders dreaming about what their futures will look like for a school project.  And instead of flashing back, you’ll flash forward to the critical moments from weddings to mental illness and desolation, sibling squabbles and that moment when that first friend meets the woman who may break up guy’s night. But don’t blink, because it’s all over in less than 35 minutes with no commercial break.
The cast has been rehearsing since November and working on getting it under the 35-minute time limit for the one-act competition next week said Gina Visness.  “This has been one of the hardest plays that we’ve had to get under time, and we’ve had to cut a lot of scenes which is said,” said Visness.  According to Visness, it took a while to get under the time limit adding, “when you memorize your lines it goes so much quicker because you don’t need to have your script with your or call for a line.  Blocking is also a big thing because it gets you from point A to point B in time.”
Visness also summarized the play and what the audience should tune in for the play’s messages. “It’s a bunch of mini-scenes about the seven main characters lives as they are young and grow up.  There are some happy moments, and some sad moments, so you have to look for the feeling of the show.”
There is just one public performance of the play – Monday, January 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Auditorium – before Crookston hosts the one-act subsection competition on Thursday, January 24 beginning at 4:00 p.m.
