Crookston Legion Post #20 Baseball scores three runs in the last two innings to beat Warroad Legion Post #25 baseball in the final round of the losers bracket at the District Tournament at Tony Stukel Field in Warroad a game you heard on KROX.
FIRST INNING
Both Crookston and Warroad were retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
SECOND INNING
The first two Warroad batters were retired before Murray Marvin singled. The batter was retired, ending the half-inning.
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
THIRD INNING
Warroad began the inning with a lead-off walk from Kanon Huffman before Ben Norris hit a two-run home run to give Warroad a 2-0 lead. Kason Pietruszewski drew a walk and Ryan Chamernick reached on an error. The next batter was retired before Brock Thompson and Jacob McFarlene both singled to score a run. The next two batters were retired, ending the half-inning with Warroad taking the lead 4-0.
Crookston’s first two batters were retired. Lucas Miller singled before Blake Melsa and George Widman drew walks to load the bases. Alex Longoria drew a walk to score a run before the next batter was retired, ending the inning with Warroad still ahead 4-1.
FOURTH INNING
Warroad began the inning with Huffman drawing a walk. Norris singled to get Huffman to third. The next batter was retired before Chamernick hit a sacrifice fly to score a run and make it 5-1 Warroad. The next batter was retired.
Crookston began the inning with Jackson Demerais reaching on an error. Tanner Giese and Teegan Lubinski drew walks before Parker Kelly was hit by a pitch to score a run. Lucas Miller singled to a run before Melsa hit a sacrifice fly to score another run, making the game 5-4 Warroad. The next batter was retired before Longoria drew a walk to load the bases and Ashton Larson drew a walk to score a run to tie the game at 5-5. Demarais singled to score two runs and Giese singled to score a run to give Crookston a 8-5 lead. Lubinski was hit by a pitch to load the bases before the next Crookston batter was retired.
FIFTH INNING
Warroad began the inning with a lead-off single before he was caught on the base path off of a McFarlene single. Marvin singled before the next batter was retired. Hoffman reached on an error that scored a run before Norris hit his second home run to score three runs and give Warroad a 9-8 lead. The next batter was retired.
The first Crookston batter was retired before Melsa reached on an error. The next two batters were retired ending the inning with Warroad still ahead 9-8.
SIXTH INNING
Warroad’s first two batters were retired. Thompson drew a walk before the next batter was retired.
The first two Crookston batters were retired before a pitch hit Giese. The next Crookston batter was retired, ending the inning with Warroad in front 9-8.
SEVEN INNING
Warroad began the inning with a pair of walks walk from Murray and Sam Hard before the runners advanced on a passed ball. The next batter was retired and Norris was intentionally walked before a run scored on a wild pitch. The next two batters were retired, ending the half-inning with Warroad furthering their lead to 10-8.
The first Crookston batter was retired before Miller, Melsa and Widman all drew a walks to load the bases. Longoira hit a double score two runs before Widman was caught on the base path for the second out. Larson drew a walk before the next Crookston batter was retired, sending the game to extra innings tied at 10-10.
EIGHT INNING
Warroad’s first two batters were retired before a pitch hit Marvin. The next batter was retired.
Crookston began the inning with a pitch hitting Demarais before he stole second base. The next two batters were retired before Lucas Miller hit a walk off single to score Demarais and give Crookston the 11-10 win.
Crookston improves to 17-9, earns third place in the sub district tournament and will head to Fosston to compete in the combined district tournament on Thursday.
