ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Cassie Solheim

The KROX Radio Athlete of the week is Crookston Pirate Girls Soccer’s eighth-grader Cassie Solheim.
Cassie recorded a natural hattrick on Saturday in a 6-0 win over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.  Cassie has four goals on the season while using her athleticism, speed, and strength to have a great start to the year.  “We are so excited about Cassie’s success this year,” said Crookston Pirate Girls Soccer Coach Sarah Reese. “She is a great student-athlete. She has natural ability and works hard to keep learning new skills – and contributing to our team.”  It is tough to tell she is an eighth-grader when she is out on the field because she is so poised and has pretty good size.  She also has a nose for the ball and the goal and can use her speed to take the shortest route to the goal.
Solheim is a three-sport athlete who competes in hockey and track.
In hockey, she is a center and played for the 12U team last year.  In track, she is a sprinter and jumper competing in the 100, 200, long jump and high jump.
