BENEDICTINE LIVING COMMUNITY CELEBRATING NATIONAL ASSISTED LIVING WEEK

The Summit in Crookston will be celebrating National Assisted Living week September 12-18. Each day will have a theme, and the week will be used as a reminder to those at the Summit that they are not forgotten.

Lisa Cole is the Summit Activities Coordinator, and she talked about the theme for the upcoming week and its importance. “The theme for this year is compassion, community, and caring,” said Cole. “Going off of this past year and how it’s been tough with Covid and trying to incorporate the community, we felt it would be best to try and get different organizations involved with the events.”

There will be plenty of different activities throughout the week happening at the Summit, including special visits from many members within the Crookston community. Cole talked more about some of the bigger events that will be taking place. “We have the Leo Club, Choice Therapy; there will also be some music,” said Cole. “The City Administrator Amy Finch will be joining us one day for a visit, some people from UMC. We’re really trying to involve the community the best we can and do a coalition with them.”

Cole spoke more on why there will be a need to incorporate many different faces in the community. “I think it’s essential to make sure our tenants don’t feel that once they’re here with us, that they’ve forgotten,” said Cole. “So, we try and to get as many volunteers as possible to be involved with it, and the tenants really love to see people from the community show up to see them. It brings joy to them and breaks up their day a bit to have lots of new things to do.”

Lisa Cole will be joining Valley Talk on KROX Thursday, September 16, to update how the week has been going. Be sure to tune in at 10:40 a.m. for that conversation.
