BENEDICTINE LIVING COMMUNITY-CROOKSTON CONTINUES LIGHT UP A LIFE DISPLAY

The Benedictine Living Community Crookston Auxiliary is accepting donations for its annual Light Up A Life Display.

This event is sponsored by the Crookston Auxiliary, where the Benedictine Living Community displays the Light Up A Life at their facility. “We have the stairwell all lit up; we’ve done Christmas trees and different things each year,” said Foundation and Marketing Coordinator Cassie Rudie, “People can donate a gift of five dollars, and it will light up a bulb. You can do this in honor of someone or memory of someone.”

Your gift of $5 will light up a bulb in memory of a friend, loved one, or someone living whom you wish to honor. To donate, you can mail the checks payable to Benedictine Auxiliary, 516 Walsh, Crookston, MN. 56716, or you can stop by the facility on either the Villa or Summit side with cash or check and the name(s) of the individuals you would like to honor written down.

Donations will go towards the Benedictine Living Community and the Crookston Auxiliary. “The Auxiliary will be allocating all of the funds to the annual appeal that we are doing with the foundation toward our Wander Guard System,” said Rudie, “All of the funds we raised during our glow golf tournament and all of our funds that will be raised during Light Up A Life will go toward our Wander Guard System.”

The current Wander Guard System at Benedictine is nearly twenty years old, and parts that need replacement are no longer available for purchase. The Wander Guard System is a bracelet device intended to keep residents safe if they walk outside. When residents exit the building, the staff is alerted on their bracelets immediately, and they can assist.

“We are in need of some new technology, and we got a new call-light system a couple of years ago,” said Rudie, “This new Wander Guard System will be able to integrate with the call-light system and work together. This is a needed opportunity for us at Benedictine Living Community-Crookston, and we’re so thankful that the Auxiliary also sees the need here and is so generous to donate these funds toward that project.”

The Light Up A Life Display will be lit from dusk to dawn until January 5. Everybody is welcome to drive by the Benedictine Living facility in Crookston and view the display.
